Artist Statement | The Process

I am currently painting in oils because of the workability of the medium. I can get the fine detail that is desired in my paintings.

My canvases are prepared in a very time consuming process. First they are gessoed, then sanded numerous times until they are very smooth. Then I use acrylic glazes until I see the desired hue and depth. Then I start painting with oils.
