Artist Statement | The Process

What inspires me are grasses, leaves, the natural world. These objects have a gleeful, whimsical, dancing feeling. I hope to capture the "nature" of these subjects without being too serious!

I believe that I paint like so many other artists because we have to. My thanks to Larry Mullins, an artist that came to Santa Fe from New York, where he is showing in several galleries. He taught at Santa Fe Community College and had been more than generous in sharing his knowledge. He seemed to have turned on the light bulb for me with what I was most comfortable and happy painting after many years of searching.
